The documentation of the complete five-year restoration of this Woodie is so extensive that we are in awe of the workmanship! From the frame up, almost everything was touched, replaced, fabricated, or renewed.! This is one of those rare instances that everything you would have wanted to do has been done, so all you need to do now is enjoy it. It has a few little scratches in the paint, but nothing that would spur you to do anything about it unless you were a perfectionist, which, happily, most of us are not! And I think in the pictures, a small chrome piece is missing from the right rear fender, but we have it! Finished in dark green with a beige interior, the woodwork on this Plymouth is outstanding. You will be amazed at the pictures of how they did it! These were assembled in a new plant in Evansville, IN. The wood from Pekin Wood, a Chrysler-controlled mill in Helena, AR, and other body components are supplied by U.S. Body and Forgings plant in Frankfort, IN. Riding on wide white, three-speed manual transmission powered by a 217 cubic inch six, it is truly a piece of automotive history. Of the 3443 copies of the Special Deluxe station wagon a few years ago, just three of the woodies were in a recent club registry. So if you want to be the only 1949 Plymouth Woodie at your local show…here it is!
